The textile industry is one of the world’s most important economic sectors, but in recent decades it has increasingly come under public scrutiny, in part due to its negative impact on the environment. Textile manufacturing is a highly complex process that involves a wide range of raw materials and production methods. It is closely linked to environmental issues such as water pollution, resource consumption, and the global waste crisis.
Therefore, we see our greatest responsibility in preserving our environment and conserving natural resources. This conviction guides us in our key decisions—from the selection of our materials and production partners to our commitment to renewable energy.

Remodeling flea market Studio Tyrler
At our remodeling flea market in Innsbruck, leftover pieces, B-goods and other fabrics are sold at low prices. So nothing goes to waste.
Solar system - own energy generation in Turkey
After three years of planning, the solar plant at our production facility in Turkey went into operation in mid-2023. The 374 solar panels will produce 226,000 kWH per year. This covers the entire electricity requirement of around 125,000 kWH generated for our production. The rest is fed into the public grid.

Jersey spandex - the first ever GOLD fitted sheets
Cotton jersey fabrics are good, but spandex jersey fabrics are a major breakthrough for us. That’s because it’s usually very difficult to separate this fabric blend, which makes recycling virtually impossible. By making it possible to reintroduce these fabrics into the cycle, we’ve opened a new and exciting chapter.

In a world where global supply chains and working conditions are becoming increasingly transparent, ethical and social issues are coming more and more into focus within the industry. The textile industry employs millions of people worldwide. Unfortunately, these workers are often exposed to a wide range of challenges, ranging from inadequate wages and unsafe and hazardous working conditions to discrimination and exploitative working hours.
We are committed to ensuring that our production takes place under the fairest possible conditions. As a global home textiles company with manufacturers in Turkey and China, it is therefore essential for us to have an organization like the Fair Wear Foundation by our side. With its strict guidelines and audits, it advocates for better working conditions in the textile industry.
Beyond that, it’s also very important to us to visit production sites on-site and actively work with our manufacturers on various social compliance issues. But we mustn’t neglect our local employees either! With benefits like Jobrad, flexible work hours, and the option to work remotely, we recognize the valuable work of our employees in Dornbirn and Innsbruck.

On September 27, 2026, the Schlossguggerhaus in Dornbirn opened its doors for Heritage Day. And what we experienced far exceeded our expectations. Around 1,000 visitors found their way to us.

Mary Rose Gin
Made from Mary Rose rose petals, distilled in one of the most beautiful cellars in Rankweil. Pure spring water from the beautiful Gargellen in Montafon is used for this gin. Produced in the Genusskeller, with hand-picked herbs and stored for 20 months in a special Mary Rose wine barrel.

Vinegar production at the Schlossguger
At the very top under the roof, in the huge attic, completely separated from the wine cellars, vinegars are produced not only from grape wines, but also from various other fruits. The fermentation of the respective fruits always takes place on our premises. The subsequent conversion into vinegar is carried out using the tethered process. In our self-built reactor, we can produce particularly pure and clear vinegars in this way. Our standards

Cradle to Cradle
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is one of the world’s most widely recognized seals of approval for the circular economy. The standard was developed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and evaluates products not only based on individual characteristics, but holistically—from the materials used to the production conditions. The goal is to design products so that they can remain within either a biological cycle (e.g., through composting) or a technical cycle (e.g., through recycling), rather than becoming waste at the end of their useful life.
Our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold products are made from organic cotton. From the fabric to the sewing thread to the woven and product labels, the materials were developed for the biological cycle and can be returned to nature without leaving any residue. The University of Innsbruck (2021) confirmed the biodegradability of our organic cotton fabric in laboratory tests. The material biodegraded completely within 35 days.
One exception is our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold fitted sheet, as it contains 3% ROICA™ V550.
This fiber is among the most innovative on the market and is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health Gold. The difference: Conventional spandex hardly degrades over centuries and increasingly breaks down into microplastic particles that remain in the environment. In addition, problematic chemicals and solvents are often used in its production. ROICA™ V550, on the other hand, has been proven to degrade under industrial composting conditions without releasing harmful substances. In this way, we consistently pursue our goal of developing products that can be recycled throughout our entire Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold range.
Fair Wear Foundation
Since 2016, we have been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving working conditions in the global textile and apparel industry.
It helps member companies identify risks in their supply chains, implement improvements, and have their progress regularly reviewed. However, membership is not a product or factory certification and cannot guarantee a risk-free or harm-free supply chain. Fair Wear’s methodology focuses on our internal processes, including our sourcing practices, which directly impact working conditions.
Specifically, this includes, for example, safe workplaces, reasonable working hours, living wages, and opportunities for employees to file complaints. If, for instance, unpaid overtime or occupational safety and health deficiencies are identified, these issues are to be investigated jointly with the manufacturing facilities and resolved step by step.
Our progress is assessed as part of Fair Wear’s annual “Brand Performance Check” (BPC) through a structured review of our management systems and practices. This allows us to evaluate the extent to which our human rights due diligence and our sourcing practices actually improve working conditions in our supply chain and protect human rights. Our most recent “Brand Performance Check” was conducted in May 2026, and we received a “Leader” rating with a score of 76/100. This category is reserved for member companies that demonstrate exceptional performance and operate at an advanced level. The full report is publicly available here.
amfori - Compliance with social standards
PAPTEX GmbH & Co KG (Mary Rose Wholesale) is a member of amforiand is therefore committed to the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct. This code of conduct covers 13 subject areas and is based on internationally recognized standards such as the ILO Core Labor Standards, the UN Charter of Human Rights, and the OECD Guidelines. The goal is to continuously improve working conditions in manufacturing facilities—including those outside Europe—and to promote statutory minimum standards. Compliance with the Code of Conduct is verified by external, independent auditing firms. Full audits take place every two years, supplemented by regular follow-up audits in areas where room for improvement has been identified. amfori BSCI is not a certification or a pass/fail system, but rather an approach to assessment and improvement. Each audit result reflects the current status of implementation of the Code of Conduct, not a final, guaranteed state. Therefore, even amfori membership cannot guarantee a supply chain that is completely free of risk or harm. It serves as a framework for continuous review and improvement.
Vegan
Unlike many other textiles, our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold products are vegan. This is because textiles are generally rarely completely free of materials of animal origin, as animal fats, uric acid, and other substances are often added during production as processing aids. Since such processing aids usually do not have to be declared, the impression is given that textiles are vegan. With our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold products, you can be sure that we do not use any materials of animal origin. This is confirmed by the international V-Label.

The environmental program of Ökopr
Since 2024, our Dornbirn facility has held the site-specific ÖKOPROFIT certification. This has enabled us to strengthen and refine our sustainability strategy through technical and organizational measures, and it is continuously validated through regular compliance audits. By forming an internal environmental team, we also benefit from the input of our employees, whose environmental awareness has been heightened over the course of the process.
