This year’s csrTAG, organized by respACT—the Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development—was once again a resounding success. The event brought together around 350 partners in Vienna to discuss sustainability, ESG, and CSR. Stefan Grabher participated in a panel discussion during the session “Cradle to Cradle Design Principle – Shaping Tomorrow’s World Together” and networked extensively. Sustainability in supply chains, diploma thesis

The four high school graduates Matteo Gärtner, Luca Brunold, Jakob Staffler, and Ekin Sarikaya from HTL Dornbirn have set themselves the task of analyzing our supply chain as part of their thesis titled "Designing Sustainable Supply Chains in the Textile Trade Using the Example of Bedding." This analysis covers CO2 emissions from production facilities, transport routes, and the efficiency of the modes of transport used. The goal is to identify the largest sources of emissions and develop optimization proposals for a more sustainable supply chain.

At this year’s Logistics Forum Bodensee, they successfully presented the topic at their own information booth.

Speaker at the United Nations

Speaking at the United Nations—what an honor! At the invitation of Zonta International, Stefan Grabher spoke at a side event of the NGO Committee on Sustainable Development during the 33rd session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) at the UN City in Vienna, addressing an audience of representatives from industry, business, academia, and NGOs. Topic: the Supply Chain Act and its opportunities and challenges. Also on the panel were Johannes Jäger, Head of the Department of Economics at the BFI University of Applied Sciences in Vienna, Gertrude Klaffenböck from the NGO Südwind, and moderator Geyer Ingeborg (Zonta International).

Climate Forum People's Party

Presentation at the Mary Rose, Dornbirn

It was a pleasure to engage with the distinguished group from "Women in the Vorarlberg People's Party," accompanied by Sophia Kircher, Vice President of the Tyrolean State Parliament and EU candidate! Receiving the Climate Pearl on this occasion for exemplary contributions to Vorarlberg’s climate future is further wonderful confirmation of the path we have chosen.

A Climate Pearl is an award presented by the Climate Forum to exemplary initiatives and ideas from Vorarlberg that contribute to environmental and climate protection. They demonstrate how diverse and relevant to everyday life sustainable engagement can be, and are intended to motivate people to also work toward a climate-just future. Each year, six such “Climate Pearls” are awarded in various categories.

Lecture "Our journey towards a circular economy"

"I never thought I’d voluntarily return to a school. But I’ve overcome ‘my trauma’ because I believe I have an important message to convey: I want to inspire young people to work toward positive change. Nothing is more important than knowing that you can make a difference, that your actions have an impact on the world. A world where we don’t just consume things, but also consider the consequences of our consumption for the environment and people. A world where we create not just textiles, but also values." And that is exactly what Stefan Grabher did at the 2023 HTL Dornbirn networking evening, where he spoke about the holistic transformation of Mary Rose and our journey toward a circular economy.

How can a company successfully transition to a sustainable business model? AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA focused on this question at the recent Foreign Trade Forum and kindly invited me to speak and offer possible answers. The discussion centered on the highly topical European Supply Chain Act and the responsible role of companies with regard to sustainability, particularly in light of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act.
