Bedding from Mary Rose – Carefully Selected Materials and Superior Comfort

How well you sleep is influenced by many factors. In addition to your mattress, room temperature, and sleep habits, the bedding you use also plays a role.

At Mary Rose, you’ll find bedding, comforters, pillows, and fitted sheets made from a variety of materials and available in different styles. Many of our textiles are made from natural fibers such as organic cotton, linen, hemp, wool, or silk. Depending on the product, they are certified according to independent standards such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, or Cradle to Cradle Certified® GOLD. Which sleep textiles can you find at Mary Rose?

Our product line includes bedding for a variety of sleeping habits, seasons, and comfort preferences. When selecting and developing our products, we focus on high-quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and practical features.

Bed linen

Depending on the model, our bedding is made from organic cotton, conventional cotton, linen, a hemp-cotton blend, or other fabric combinations.

Cotton can absorb moisture and is often considered comfortable against the skin. Linen and hemp have a distinctive texture and are popular choices for warmer nights due to their moisture-regulating properties.

The weave also affects how the fabric feels when you sleep. Satin has a smooth surface; percale has a matte finish and feels crisp to the touch; while flannel, with its brushed surface, is perceived as particularly soft and warm.

Comforters

At Mary Rose, you'll find comforters with a variety of fillings and warmth ratings. Depending on the model, they may be filled with down or wild silk, for example.

Down can retain a lot of heat despite its light weight. For products labeled accordingly, we list the origin and any certifications, such as DOWNPASS, directly on the product page.

Wild silk is often used for lighter comforters and can absorb moisture. The best comforter for you depends on your personal sensitivity to heat, the season, and the room temperature.

Sleeping pillow

Depending on the model, our pillows are filled with spelt, millet, virgin wool, Swiss stone pine shavings, feathers, or down.

Loose fillings such as spelt or millet can be distributed throughout the pillow and provide a firmer, moldable feel when lying on it. Pillows made of wool, feathers, or down differ in terms of softness, warmth, and support, among other things.

Whether a pillow is suitable for an individual's sleeping position depends on its height, the amount of filling, the mattress, and personal preference. No general conclusions can be drawn from this regarding medical benefits or the reliable prevention of muscle tension.

Fitted sheets

Depending on the model, our fitted sheets are made of cotton, organic cotton, or cotton blended with spandex. Cotton absorbs moisture, while the spandex content improves stretch and fit.

Some of our fitted sheets are Cradle to Cradle Certified® GOLD. This independent product standard evaluates, among other things, material health, recyclability, water and soil management, renewable energy, and social criteria.

The certification applies specifically to the product listed. Whether a product can be returned to the organic cycle, and under what conditions, depends on the information provided in the certificate and the designated return or recycling channels.

When making your selection, be sure to consider not only the length and width but also the specified mattress or slat height.

Care of Bedding

Proper care can help preserve the materials, colors, and product characteristics for as long as possible. Always follow the instructions on the care label.

Wash bedding only at the recommended temperature and use a detergent suitable for the specific material. Bleach should only be used if expressly permitted.

Whether a product is suitable for the dryer depends on its material and construction. If air-drying is possible, it can be gentler on fabrics and doesn’t require the energy used by a dryer. However, direct sunlight can cause colored fabrics to fade.

Since the care requirements for organic cotton, linen, wool, silk, and other materials vary, general recommendations should not replace the product-specific care instructions.

Materials, Standards, and Responsibility at Mary Rose

Many of Mary Rose's bedding products are made from natural fibers. Depending on the product, either certified organic fibers are used or the products meet independently verified product and production standards.

GOTS sets ecological and social requirements for the processing of textiles made from certified organic fibers. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 confirms that the components of the certified product have been tested for a wide range of regulated and health-related harmful substances. Cradle to Cradle Certified® evaluates various aspects of product design and manufacturing.

We specify which of these details apply to a particular product directly on the respective product page. This allows you to select sleepwear based on material, comfort, care instructions, and applicable certifications.
