No. 1 Apple cider vinegar - Lotte's natural alternative to chemical softeners and descaling agents
1.1 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Soft towels
By adding approx. 1/16l of pure apple cider vinegar to the final rinse water, towels remain soft after washing, even if they are not put in the dryer afterwards. Apple cider vinegar is therefore the perfect household remedy for all those who do not have a tumble dryer at home but would still like to have soft towels. What's more, apple cider vinegar is relatively inexpensive, so you can do without fabric softener and use a sustainable, inexpensive and environmentally friendly household remedy. Incidentally, this trick also works with our organic terrycloth range.
1.2 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Preserving colors
Whether black or colored - apple cider vinegar maintains and preserves the color of textiles. Again, about 1/16l apple cider vinegar added to the last rinse water is sufficient.
1.3 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Keeping wool soft
When washing wool, it can happen that the wool no longer feels pleasantly soft but scratchy and roughened after repeated washing. Here too, apple cider vinegar is a practical household product for everyday use that ensures that wool remains soft and can work wonders when washing.PS: If you are now wondering whether the laundry might smell unpleasant due to the addition of apple cider vinegar, then this concern is absolutely unfounded: The apple cider vinegar washes out and the laundry smells absolutely neutral.
1.4 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Removing strong odors
Speaking of unpleasant odors: Lotte's apple cider vinegar home remedy also works wonders when it comes to removing foul-smelling odors. Sportswear in particular is often very susceptible here, which is why Lotte always falls back on her well-known household remedy at the club. The same principle applies here too: add 1/16l of pure apple cider vinegar without spices to the last rinse water and you will be rid of unpleasant odors even at low temperatures.
1.5 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Descaling akettle
Pure apple cider vinegar is not only a practical household remedy for laundry, but is also an inexpensive, sustainable and quick descaler. To descale a kettle, simply take a dash of apple cider vinegar, pour it into the calcified kettle together with a little water and bring to the boil. You should pour in enough water so that the limescale rim is completely covered with the water and apple cider vinegar mixture. After boiling, you will immediately see the brilliant result - now all you have to do is wash out the kettle carefully so that no vinegar residue remains in the kettle.
1.6 Apple cider vinegar home remedy: Descaling the bathtub
Descaling the bathtub made easy - our apple cider vinegar home remedy makes it possible: Fill the bathtub with water up to the limescale line and pour about 1 liter of apple cider vinegar into the bathtub. Leave it to work overnight and rinse the bath thoroughly the next day - even stubborn limescale residues will dissolve overnight without any problems.
No.2: Baking powder - Lotte's household tip for brilliant white in everyday life
Lotte used to work in a factory and regularly had to deal with oil stains on white coats. How did she get the white coats really clean again without aggressive agents and stain remover? That's right - with baking soda!
2.1 Home remedy baking soda: make white laundry shine
When washing white laundry, baking soda is a sustainable and inexpensive household tip for everyday use. Just one sachet of baking soda per wash ensures that white laundry shines again. You can also add baking soda to white curtains and tablecloths to make them shine again. Caution: Only use baking soda on white laundry.
2.2 Home remedy baking soda: Stubborn stains such as red wine or oil
Whether red wine or oil stains - stubborn dirt can be easily removed with the help of Lotte's home remedy baking soda. Simply dissolve the baking soda in lukewarm water to create a creamy mixture. Apply the resulting paste to the stain, leave to work overnight and wash out the next day.
2.3 Home remedy baking soda: The ultimate way to remove grass stains
Lotte knows all about grass stains on light-colored pants and shirts. The most important household tip: grass stains must be pre-treated with cold water. This is because, according to Lotte, warm water drives the grass stain even further into the laundry instead of washing it out. Laundry with stubborn stains must therefore be pre-rinsed at least twice in cold water. Then apply the baking soda mixture (see point 2.2) or a stain remover to the stain, leave to soak overnight and then wash out. With these household tips, you can also remove grass stains without any problems.
2.4 Baking soda household remedy: cleaning burnt-on dishes
Who hasn't experienced the tedious and often tedious task of removing the sticky residue from burnt-on dishes? Our household remedy baking soda can also be effective here: Dissolve baking soda in lukewarm water again and soak the affected dishes overnight with the mixture. The next day, the burnt-on residue will have softened and can be easily removed.
