The cradle to cradle principle -
Sustainability all along the line

From the organic cotton fabric to the sewing thread, the buttons, the weaving and product label and the color pigments - everything is safe for the biological cycle and can therefore be returned to the biological cycle without leaving any residue . This is the most important characteristic of products that have been awarded the Cradle to Cradle Certified® label.

Cradle to cradle as a sustainable design concept

Cradle to Cradle (C2C) as a principle is based on a closed-loop system that enables sustainable production without waste and pollution. Safe, recyclable materials are used that can be recycled at the end of their service life.
C2C takes all ecological, economic and social aspects of products into account right from the planning phase.

Innovative solution for the global waste problem

The textile industry is one of the biggest polluters on our planet and contributes massively to the global waste problem. The production of clothing requires large amounts of water and energy and leads to the release of greenhouse gases and harmful chemicals into the environment. In addition, millions of tons of textile waste end up in landfills or are disposed of in nature every year, leading to serious environmental problems.

Traditional production processes are linear - the end result is a product that can usually be returned to the environment with little or no difficulty or without enormous recycling effort. One solution could be the introduction of the C2C principle into production practices in the textile industry, which is based on a closed-loop system and promotes the use of safe, recyclable materials and renewable energy sources.

The Cradle to Cradle certification

A large proportion of our bed linen, or almost the entire terrycloth range, has been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® GOLD status.

We have been tested and assessed in five categories:

  • Material health: The products are tested for chemicals that may be harmful to people and the environment.
  • Recyclability of the material: The products must be recyclable, i.e. the components must be reusable, recyclable, compostable or biodegradable.
  • Renewable energy and CO2: The criteria that must be met, depending on the certification level, are that 100% of production energy must ultimately come from renewable energy sources and that production emissions must be managed
  • Water management: Processes are designed in such a way that water is preserved as a precious resource for all living beings. Progress must be made at each certification level so that all wastewater reaches "drinking water quality" as the highest PLATIN level.
  • Social responsibility: Responsible and ethical business practices and social responsibility of all stakeholders, including the supply chain.
