Why you should choose an organic comforter

Choosing an organic comforter supports both the environment and your health. Organic comforters offer many advantages such as a lower risk of allergies, better breathability, optimal air circulation, better moisture regulation, optimal temperature balance and are also durable. By choosing an organic comforter, you are promoting healthy sleep and contributing to a sustainable lifestyle at the same time.

What should you look out for when buying a comforter?

Choosing the right comforter is a personal decision that depends on a variety of factors - including the filling material, the size and the specific needs in relation to different seasons.

The right filling material

When choosing the right comforter, the filling material plays a central role in sleeping comfort. We attach particular importance to selecting high-quality and sustainable materials in order to meet the different needs and preferences of our customers.

Down comforter

Our down comforters are 100% "Made in Austria". Each one is manufactured in compliance with the Fair Wear guidelines. In addition, our down comes exclusively from sources that guarantee compliance with strict animal welfare criteria. For different needs and seasons, Mary Rose offers a selection of winter down, summer down and all-season down. Our winter down comforters are particularly voluminous and thermally insulating, ideal for cold winter nights. The summer down comforters, on the other hand, are light and breathable. This makes them perfect for warm summer nights when you prefer a cool sleeping climate. All-season down offers a flexible solution by adapting comfortably to the ambient temperature all year round.

Silk blanket

Our silk blankets stand for the highest quality and sustainability, 100% "Made in Austria". The filling is made of 100% wild silk and is GOTS certified, which guarantees the high standard of our materials and environmentally friendly production. Silk comforters are particularly suitable for summer, as they are ideal for regulating the temperature in the bedroom. They offer a light, cool sleeping climate and ensure that you can sleep comfortably even on warm nights. The natural breathability of silk supports optimum moisture regulation and contributes to a restful night's sleep.

The right size

When buying a comforter, the individual sleeping style should be taken into account as well as body size. There are a variety of sizes on the market so that the right comforter can be found for every person and every couple. Especially for couples, it is recommended to choose a comforter with a width of at least 200 cm to provide enough space for both people and ensure that everyone is adequately covered. While the standard size for comforters in Germany and Austria is usually 140 × 200 cm or 140 × 220 cm, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and fully covered under your comforter. Ultimately, the ideal comforter is the one that provides you personally with the greatest sleeping comfort and meets your individual needs.

Comforters for summer and winter

Choosing the right comforter according to the season is crucial for optimal sleeping comfort. In summer, light and cooling comforters are ideal to ensure a good night's sleep. Here we recommend either our summer down comforter or our silk comforter. In winter, warmer and thicker comforters are usually required to counteract the cold. In this case, our winter down comforter offers you optimum protection and guarantees cozy warmth. All-season comforters offer an excellent solution for the whole year and represent an intermediate solution between the two "extremes". For the perfect compromise, we have designed our all-season down comforter. With this comforter, you don't have to freeze or sweat, but benefit from a pleasant sleeping climate all year round.

Which comforter is suitable for allergy sufferers?

For house dust allergy sufferers in particular, choosing the right bedding is crucial to improving the quality of sleep and avoiding allergic reactions. Our organic comforters, made from natural materials, are ideal for people with allergy problems. The dense structure of our down prevents mites from easily nesting, which significantly reduces the risk of allergic reactions. In addition, the breathable properties of down ensure that moisture is quickly wicked away, creating a dry and hygienic sleeping environment. The smooth structure of our silk is naturally repellent to dust mites, as it does not provide a suitable breeding ground for these pests. Silk is also hypoallergenic and skin-friendly, which significantly reduces the risk of general allergic reactions.

How should a comforter be washed?

Careful care of your comforter is essential to ensure both hygiene and comfort in the long term. The care instructions vary depending on the material in order to preserve the properties of the respective filling and optimize its lifespan:

Down comforters can be washed gently (up to a maximum of 60°). Ideally, use an easy-care washing machine program for this. If you leave your down comforter to dry, make sure you never place it directly in the sunlight. Fog or rain will also damage the down. Ideally, use virgin wool dryer balls directly during the wash cycle. This will significantly shorten the drying process. You should definitely avoid dry cleaning your down comforter.

Silk blankets, on the other hand, must not be washed. Dry cleaning with perchloroethylene is permitted. Never iron your silk comforter or dry it in a tumble dryer.

In addition to specific care, it is important to shake out and air comforters regularly to keep the filling fresh and fluffy. It is recommended to wash or clean comforters at least once a year, depending on use and season. This regular care not only contributes to hygiene, but also maintains the quality and longevity of your comforter.
